An Artist that I Admire

An Artist that I Admire

I think that admire is not the word that describe what I feel for this artist, but I really like the work of  Antonio Becerro, he is an artist who experiment with taxidermy, not all of his work it's related to do that, but a big part it is.

He is the founder of an art center called “La Perrera”, in the 80' the government used that place to sacrifice dogs from the street. Years later, Becerro establish the art center honoured all the dogs who died in there.

In 2013, one of his last work was present at the National Museum of Fine Art, the name of the exposition was “Encontraron Cielo”. I really loved go there and see all of the scultures of dogs, because the idea of the exposition makes an allusion to all the dogs who was killed or died on the street. He charactherize the chilean dog, the “quiltro” and I am crazy about dogs and animals in general, so, make art with those deads is the intersting thing of the work of Antonio Becerro.

For me, the contemorany art need to take more attention of this situation, because you can express your art in many ways, and make visible this problem is one of them.

The best holidays I've had

The best holidays I've had:

I think it was the summer of 98', in the city of Arica, I was 5 years old, my entire family was there. The husband of my aunt is a police man, so his whole family have to moved on that place, he only takes order and make the change. Obviosly I don't remember every thing I did in that summer, I think I was there for three months. Arica isn't what you can call a beatiful city, but I swam a lot and it was marvellous, I remember that. With my family went to the desert, we cross the border with Peru, my dad take pictures of us in a tomb over there, it was really creepy. I've made a few friends and for christmas, “Santa Claus” passing by the whole neigtborhood in a truck with a lot of presents, I was wearing my green swimsuit, in some place of my home there are pictures from that day too. Now I think more clearly in that vacations and that last scene it was ridiculous, Santa Claus in Chile, with 34 degree?, it was the best holiday ever, I eat and play all day for three monts, can I ask more?.

Biography

My name is Úrsula Fairlie, I'm 21 years old, I'm studying theory and history art's.
I live in Santiago, Estación Central, since I was born. I studied in a religious school near my house, I didn't like it, but it was simple for my parents to take me there. I live with my parents and my two brothers, I have two beautiful dogs, they are the sunshine of my life, dogs in general are my life. I want to help all the street dogs, because people don't take care of them, they give so much love and tenderness, so I can't understand why people are so mean.

The university gives me a lot of strenght to be myself, learn about the things that I like or doesn't like, to know interesting people, talk with them and see stuff that I had never seen before. I don't want to stop studying, I love films, all the kind of; western, terror, romance, comedy, drama, etc., so I really want to follow that career.

I don't have a favourite kind of music, but I really like jazz, funk, balads and the big bands orchestras, like Count Bassie or Dinah Washington. I enjoy going to concerts or festivals of music, it's really fun.

A country I would like to visit

A country I would like to visit:

I would like to visit Spain, because it have diferent regions, all of them with his own culture, as Cataluña, Madrid, Barcelona, Toledo, etc. That make the country so special, all the places you would visit are interesting and have a great story to tell. The buildings that you would see in the gothic neighborhood in Barcelona, are really amazing. Cadiz would be a excellent place to visit, the Andaluz community reside in there and the music and dance that come from Flamenco is very beautiful and passionate. In there, all the children have to learn to play guitar and sing flamenco.
I'm excited to go there, is such an artistic country, even with all the suffer they have in his history, like most of the country, they have the streght to go on, writing poems, making movies, painting the most incredible things. I just go there to walk and walk around the city, I would taste the food from every place, I drink the beer from all the pubs that I found. I would go visit the Prado Museum. However, I wouldn't like to visit this country alone, because only would be special if I go with my parner, that way it would be perfect.
